3 WEEKEND PROJECTS THAT WON’T BREAK THE BANK

It’s a new year, so I know that you aren’t looking to spend a lot of money on home renovations. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice improvement and style.

Weekends are my go-to time for giving my home a little makeover without going overboard on expenses. If you're on the lookout for easy and budget-friendly ways to elevate your living space, check out these three DIY projects. From adding a splash of style to upgrading practical elements, these ideas are perfect for a weekend transformation that won't break the bank.

Create a Unique Accent or Gallery Wall

I'm all about making a statement with minimal effort, and that's why I love the idea of a standout accent wall. Pick a vibrant colour or a funky pattern that vibes with your current decor. It's a fantastic way to inject personality into a room without going all-in on a complete overhaul. The other option is to create a funky gallery wall using old frame. You can repurpose paint old frames in your home or have some fun and head out to your local thrift store to find some cheap old frames with some character. It’s a lot of fun!

Materials Needed:

  • Paint (grab those sample sizes)

  • Painter's tape

  • Brushes or rollers

  • Drop cloths

  • Re-purposed frames

Gift Your Cabinets or Dressers a Facelift

This one is great especially if you have older cabinets that still may have lots of lift left in them – upgrading cabinet a or dresser hardware. Swapping out old handles and knobs for newer, trendier ones is like giving your space an instant facelift. The best part? It won't burn a hole in your wallet. If you are looking to take it up an extra notch as well, giving them a paint along with the hardware can complete a wonderful transformation with little time and not much effort.

Materials Needed:

  • New cabinet hardware

  • Screwdriver

  • Measuring tape

Craft or Re-cover Your Own Headboard

Actually just about to do this in our home. In this project the bedroom vibes are getting a personalized touch with a custom headboard. This DIY project allows you to showcase your style while saving some bucks that I'd otherwise spend on a store-bought headboard. If you have an existing headboard, simply heading to a local mercantile or fabric shop and picking up some new fabric to cover the old is simple and a game-changer. You can get the room a whole new feel with new custom focal piece of the bedroom.

Materials Needed:

  • Plywood or MDF board

  • Foam padding

  • Fabric of your choice

  • Adhesive spray

  • Staple gun

  • Saw

  • Screws and anchors

  • Screwdriver or drill

Who said transforming your home had to be a complex and pricey affair? These three weekend DIY projects – creating a unique accent wall, upgrading cabinet hardware, and crafting a custom headboard – just might be the secret weapons for a quick and budget-friendly home upgrade. Dive into these projects over the weekend and revel in the joy of a refreshed home, all without the hassle of extensive renovations. If you do any, head over to my socials and share. I’d love to check them out!
